Expectation is an wonderful word. It is defined as, ‘the act or state of looking forward or anticipating’. An expectant mental attitude is described as, ‘a high pitch of expectation’. What do you expect when it comes to your mental, physical or spiritual abundance? Do you expect a lot? A little? None at all?
The kind of expectation I am talking about is not the kind that exists only in your thinking, reasoning mind. It’s the kind that exists on a deep cellular level. Think back to the days of youth when you really, really wanted and expected something to happen. Maybe it was that shiny new bike for your birthday, that special toy Mom promised to buy you or just performing really well at your favorite sport. You could barely control yourself with excitement and there was so much anticipation that you just about jumped out of your skin. That’s the kind of expectation I’m talking about. It exists on a cellular level and is something that came easily when you were young.
As we age, we tend to forget about our natural ability to feel expectation on a deep internal level. Life tends to get busy and we feel weighed down with ‘responsible’ thoughts instead of more exciting and fun thoughts. Our ego often gets in the way of our positive thoughts of expectation and abundance. The ego is that thing that weasels its way in between us and our true desires and separates us from the oneness that we truly are. For just a moment, travel back to that place of deep excitement and expectation to remember what it truly felt like. Its in that space of joyful oneness that we reconnect on a deep cellular level with that wonderful sense of wholesome expectation and revisit what its like to organically create positive, happy feelings of abundance.
Let’s not stop there though. In addition to our deep, joyful expectation, to fully engage in the manifestation of abundance we need to add something with that extra notch of flare such as desire. Desire is the idea that gets planted in the subconscious mind. Once you have planted your idea in the fertile soil of your subconscious mind it has no choice but to naturally take root and flourish if you feed and tend to it daily just like your garden. Consider for a moment what would happen to your real garden if the seed you planted got dug up the next day instead of letting it take root? It would be no bigger than it was the day before. If you left that seen in the ground to grow and tended it daily, you would soon have a plant of remarkably size and strength. The same thing must happen with an idea you want to grow. When you are planting that new idea in your subconscious mind such as expecting an abundance, plant it deep in the fertile soil of your subconscious mind and leave it there to grow. Fed it daily with positive thoughts, images, belief and faith. I’m not talking about blind faith but the kind of faith that can only come from true knowledge and understanding.
If the idea you are planting is a mental, physical, spiritual or even financial one that you truly want, mix it with desire, tend to it daily and watch it grow and bloom.Wallace Wattles describes desire as, “the effort of the idea inside seeking expression outside through our action” in the Science of Getting Rich.
In making the expectation of an abundance a daily practice, you will gain an understanding of how the universal laws work. You will begin to re-unite with your natural ability of expecting an abundance and you will see how truly easy it is to create it. After a short time, it will seem only natural to you to expect the good to come into your life just as it did when you were a child. You see, the conscious mind is like the mom and the subconscious mind is like the child. The conscious mind likes to gather lots of different ideas and do lots of things all at the same time. It likes to stay very busy doing lots of day to day tasks. The subconscious mind, like the child between the ages of 0-6, will literally do what it is told. It does not know the difference between what is real or what is imagined. Plant ideas in your subconscious mind of the good that you desire. Since ideas always comes to and through a person, when you plant the idea with desire and expectation remember to care for it daily until it is ready to become your creation. Breathe the breath of life into your well cared for ideas with your mindful actions!
When you study the laws of the universe, you will begin to gain an understanding of the true power behind expecting an abundance. President John Kennedy asked Dr. Wernher Von Braun what it would take to build a rocket that would take a man to the moon and bring him back safely to Earth.
Dr. Wernher Von Braun said, “The will to do it.”
Hold your idea on the screen of your mind with your will, place it with emotion into your subconscious mind and fed it with your belief, faith and excitement daily. It will feel very natural to expect an abundance when you do this. Enjoy the mental, physical and spiritual abundance is naturally yours! It is your birthright to expect good things. Today is a great day to start.
